 DESCRIPTION:  Students will study the emergence of the United States as a world power along with the influences on the historical development of the United States.  Also included are the cultural and social impacts of events from the Civil War and Reconstruction through 21st century involvements and actions.  Recognition of contributions of individuals and groups of all ethnic backgrounds will be investigated with their impact on history.  Students will exhibit appropriate social studies skills to include, but not limited to, converting information from one medium to another, organizing and expressing ideas in written form, drawing conclusions, using problem solving skills, and sequencing historical data and information

GRADING SYSTEM:

Dailywork/Homework              50%
Tests                                          30%
Quizzes                                     10%
Class participation/activities 10%

Note:  All major projects count as a major test grade
